Exhibition - Baby carriage museum in Zeitz opens new display depot
Visitors of the Pram Museum in Zeitz can now enjoy a new exhibition area with digital and interactive exhibits. In order to offer more exhibits from the museum's collection, three vitrines - each about the size of a truck - a total of around 871,000 Euro have been invested, announced Mayor Christian Thieme (CDU) at the opening on Friday. The financing was mainly done through federal funds.
The exhibition, which is divided into two sections, presents the history of prams from 1846 to the Second World War in the first part. In the second part, the history of the East German pram manufacturer Zekiwa is opened. The exhibition depot is now part of the permanent exhibition of the museum, whose exhibition area has nearly doubled through the extension.
"In the vitrines, you can see around 400 children's and doll carriages from the 19th and 20th centuries up to the present," said Museum Director Kristin Otto. The focus, however, is on the carriages of the 1960s to 2000s. Current Zekiwa models are also on display. An archive cabinet also shows puppets, teddy bears, pram brochures, board games, school uniforms, and chalkboards.
Children from Saxony-Anhalt and across Germany can now explore the expanded Pram Museum in Zeitz, thanks to the new exhibition area with digital and interactive exhibits. This museum, located in the heart of Germany, showcases the history of prams and the East German pram manufacturer Zekiwa, attracting visitors both locally and internationally.
