- B80 re-approved at Hann. Münden after landslide

The landslide-blocked federal road 80 in southern Lower Saxony is open again. It has been passable since midday, as the city of Hann. Münden announced. Overnight from Saturday to Sunday, a flood of water and mud came down a forested slope due to heavy rain and hit the federal road.

As a result, among other things, trees along the road, which also runs through Hesse, had to be felled. Buildings of the North West German Forest Research Institute, which are located on a road below the B80, were also severely damaged by the storm. According to the institution, the damage amounts to millions. Research data and sample material have been lost.

After the landslide, some visitors at the nearby forest park unfortunately experienced a slip and fall due to the muddy conditions created by the incident. Subsequently, the park authorities issued a warning to visitors about the slippery surfaces.
