Residing - Available rent index: Old buildings experience rental hikes

For the Rent Mirror 2023, the square meter price remained stable at 7.16 euros net cold. Yet, these two figures can't be easily compared. One cause is the recently implemented Mietspiegelverordnung by the Federation, which mandates a different table layout.
Recently, a simple rent mirror for the capital was released in June of the last year. This edition wasn't constructed through a poll among renters and landlords, making it a makeshift solution. The latest survey as of September 1, 2023 is now viewed as an authentic rent mirror and is based on rental and equipment data for roughly 16,000 residences in the city. It's valid for a two-year timeframe.

Due to this trend, many renters find it challenging to afford their old building's rent, which has risen significantly over the years.
