Remembering the fallen police officer in Mannheim, authorities across the country are urging people to observe a moment of silence on Friday. "Everyone is welcome to join in the moment of silence," several police branches' announcements shared on Wednesday stated.

At 11:34 am on this day, the police will participate in the minute of silence. This is when Officer Rouven Laur, aged 29, was gravely injured by a knife-wielding attacker at a demo marked by Islamophobia and later succumbed to his wounds in the hospital.

The 25-year-old Afghan national, who is suspected to be the culprit, was shot by another officer from the police. The Federal Public Prosecutor's Office is now handling the case, and the accused is yet to be interrogated.
