- Authorities probe alleged bomb hazards in educational institutions
After receiving bomb threat emails at numerous schools in Brandenburg, the State Security Division is currently conducting an investigation. Initially, they will focus on determining the intent behind these threats, as confirmed by a police representative in response to inquiries. The State Security Division handles investigations into suspected politically driven crimes.
On Monday, 16 schools in Brandenburg reported receiving identical emails with threatening messages. These schools were located in Brandenburg an der Havel, Potsdam, and Kleinmachnow in the Potsdam-Mittelmark district. Upon inspection, police found no signs of potential security risks and in some instances, classes were temporarily suspended.
Additionally, similar bomb threat emails surfaced at schools in Rhineland-Palatinate and Hamburg on the same day. Some of these threats made references to the Middle East situation.
Last week, multiple Berlin schools also received emails featuring threats. Authorities deemed them harmless, but the State Security Division is now involved due to disruptions caused by potentially dangerous criminal acts.
Initially, there were no specific details about the author of the emails or their motive in Brandenburg. Further investigations including analysis of the sender's motive and comparison with similar incidents reported in other federal states, will be carried out, as stated by a police spokesperson.
In light of the bomb threat emails, authorities are paying close attention to Brandenburg on the Havel, one of the affected districts, to ensure the safety of its schools. Following the bomb threat at schools in Brandenburg an der Havel, local authorities are working closely with the State Security Division to uncover the identity and intentions of the email sender.
