Assault with a blade. - Authorities hold a memorial for fallen officer in Mannheim.
In Rhineland-Palatinate, police officers convened at various spots statewide on a Friday morning to pay tribute to the fallen officer, Rouven Laur, who was tragically killed in Mannheim a week earlier. This took place at police stations, offices, or even public areas. Timing was because it was exactly at 11:34 am, which marked the hour of the crime that occurred the previous Friday, as per the interior ministry spokesperson in Mainz. A contingent from the headquarters of the Rhineland-Palatinate Police in Ludwigshafen also took part in the homage in nearby Mannheim, as a representative from the headquarters disclosed. The GdP Rhineland-Palatinate branch had issued a call for a moment of silence to remember this police officer.
Exactly a week prior, a 25-year-old Afghan had violently injured five members from the anti-Islam movement Pax Europa and a 29-year-old officer at Mannheim's market square. Regrettably, Laur succumbed to his wounds two days later, on Sunday. Steinmeier, the Federal President, dedicated a wreath at the crime scene on Friday.
