European soccer governing body UEFA - Authorities grant permission for pyrotechnics usage during the European Championship's opening ceremony.

Although concerns were raised by authorities initially, UEFA was permitted to incorporate pyrotechnics into the opening ceremony of the European Championship. The Munich district administration had given its nod of approval for the organised show before the match between the German national team and Scotland, per a "Sportschau" report. A fire department official confirmed that no issues arose during the review of the pyrotechnics. Therefore, no modifications will be made in the utilization of pyrotechnics.

At first, the district administration advised EURO 2024 GmbH, the organizer, to bypass the use of pyrotechnics during the introductory ceremony. UEFA asserted that the occurrence of the opening ceremony would be "closely supervised" and would transpire in conjunction with reputable manufacturers and proficient firms abiding by the health and safety regulations of the hosting nation.

Details concerning the ceremony had been publicised, featuring the reliance on a variety of pyrotechnic products as "special effects". To illustrate, 60 hand-held pyrotechnic items were scheduled to be set alight. The fire department noted the "specific signalling impact to spectators, who frequently use pyrotechnics unlawfully, resulting in hazardous situations and injuries".

Regulation against the implementation of pyrotechnics in German stadiums without authorization is strident, eliciting continual friction between followers and groups. Public-wide, the extensive usage of pyrotechnics by fans at the DFB Cup finale in Berlin between Bayer Leverkusen and 1. FC Kaiserslautern generated a frenzy. The two clubs are anticipated to incur hefty fines.
