After a blaze in a city center residence, authorities stumbled upon a corpse in an attic flat. Preliminary identifications pointed towards the deceased as a local inhabitant of the attic dwelling, as per a police representative. Though the identity was yet to be verified, the preliminary reason for demise remained elusive. Two tenants of the flat endured critical injuries, suspected to be a consequence of inhaling fumes.
Initial examinations indicate that the fire ignited in the early morning hours within the attic apartment, situated on the outskirts of the central area. The possibility of a technical malfunction or negligent arson, such as a dropped cigarette, has not been conclusively ruled out.
According to accounts, the roof was fully engulfed in flames, and due to intricate building construction, the blaze spread to the rooftop of an adjacent residential building. Over 250 emergency services were mobilized on site. They succeeded in halting and dousing the fire, essentially preventing its propagation to other buildings nearby.
Various occupants were escorted from the towering residence, and one resident was salvaged from the blazing attic apartment by employing a 'jump bag' supplied by the fire department. The damage evaluations project a substantial financial loss, estimated in the millions. The inquiry continues.
