Mainz takes the lead in news: [Introduction about Mainz] - Authorities discover 7 kg of amphetamines and firearms in a residential unit.

Police discover nearly eight kilograms of amphetamine in an apartment in Mainz. They immediately took control of the stash. The brother of the tenant, a 45-year-old man, was on their radar as he had a warrant out for his arrest and lived with the tenant earlier. However, he was not found at the time. Given the previous run-ins of this 45-year-old brother with the law for weapons charges, the specialist operations unit of the Rhineland-Palatinate police were brought in for backup. The 44-year-old tenant was subsequently apprehended, arrested and taken to their custody.

A search in the tenant's apartment in the Mombach district of Mainz had begun on Tuesday as part of an ongoing investigation into drug-related crimes. The police, on finding the suspect's brother had a warrant out for his arrest and lived with him, decided to include him in their search. Behind the apartment door was not just amphetamine, but also an unloaded air rifle and two Samurai swords besides other edged weapons. The police recovered a sizable 7kg of amphetamine during the raid. The investigating judge quickly ordered a pre-trial detention order for the 44-year-old and commenced an investigation for violations of the Narcotics Act.

In their quest for the 45-year-old, officers managed to nab him on Wednesday night in the Hartenberg-Münchfeld district. During the arrest, the brother allegedly had some stolen goods, cash in the hundreds and a bit of meth in his possession. This multi-charged brother was later transferred to jail due to the pending warrant. His remaining sentence is nearly two years long.
