Author Sebastian Fitzek no longer receives books as gifts

Thriller author Sebastian Fitzek (52) sees a very special disadvantage in his profession - especially at Christmas. "People no longer give me books as presents because they think I'll get them all for free anyway - which isn't true," Fitzek told the German Press Agency. "On the other hand, when I give books away, they think I'll just keep giving them away." He used to often wish for books for Christmas. "Now I just buy them myself."

The Berlin author ("The Invitation") regularly tops the bestseller lists with his books. Streaming service Amazon Prime Video is currently showing the mystery series "Die Therapie", which is based on Fitzek's debut novel from 2006.

Despite his success, Sebastian Fitzek often misses receiving literature as Christmas gifts from his loved ones, as they assume he already has access to numerous books due to his profession. However, the popular author enjoys the tradition of gift-giving and simply buys his favorite literature during the festive season.
