The Austrian Gerhard Struber is expected to be the new coach of 1. FC Cologne, according to a media report. Cologne's sports director Christian Keller is rumored to have chosen the 47-year-old. Struber was previously the coach of RB Salzburg, the Austrian football champions, but his team lost a five-point lead over the eventual champions Sturm Graz and were knocked out in the semifinals of the Austrian Cup.

Reportedly, Struber will join Cologne without having to pay a release fee. The Bundesliga-relegated club will start preparing for the upcoming 2. Bundesliga season on June 21st.
