Armaments group - Austria commissions Rheinmetall with defence modernization
The armaments group Rheinmetall has secured a major order from Austria. Specifically, the order is for the modernization of existing Skyguard air defence systems. The order volume amounts to 532 million euros, the company announced in Düsseldorf on Tuesday. The DAX-listed company can book the sum as incoming orders this month. The contract begins next February and has a project term of 48 months, according to the announcement.
Rheinmetall's Skyguard system is a short-range air defense system. Among other things, the modernization ordered by the Austrians will upgrade 28 existing 35mm twin guns. The corresponding ammunition is also part of the order.
