Bundesliga - Augsburg's Thorup can move out of the hotel: Iago is doing better
Coach Jess Thorup will soon be able to move out of his hotel in Augsburg. "I've now found a nice apartment in the city center," said the Danish coach of the Bundesliga club ahead of the end-of-year fixture at VfB Stuttgart on Wednesday (8.30 pm). He is now "close" to signing the tenancy agreement before Christmas and then living in the apartment from the new year. The 53-year-old has been coach of Augsburg since October.
Thorup is aiming for a successful final 2023 in Stuttgart. In the eight games under his leadership so far, Augsburg have picked up 13 points. "Stuttgart are one of the biggest surprises for me," he warned of the Champions League contenders, who lost 3-0 at FC Bayern Munich on Sunday. Augsburg gained confidence the day before with a 1-1 draw against Borussia Dortmund.
It has become more likely that left-back Iago will play in the Swabian derby following muscular problems. "He's getting better day by day," reported Thorup. The Brazilian had at least completed a running session with the athletics trainer on Monday.
