To alleviate the undue strain on rescue teams, locals are urged to avoid navigating these areas. "The force of floodwaters is unpredictable and banks might collapse," cautioned the authority.
Motorists and foot traffic are both advised to avoid flooded roadways, along with flooded underpasses. Cover plates for manholes may be siphoned off by the pressure within the sewer system, potentially resulting in a suction effect that pulls people in.
