- Augsburg is back with Cardona.

FC Augsburg loans out attacker Irvin Cardona once again. The 27-year-old Frenchman, who is still under contract with the Bundesliga side until 2027, moves to Spanish Primera División newcomers Espanyol Barcelona for one season.

Cardona spent the second half of last season on loan at French Ligue 2 side AS Saint-Étienne, contributing to their promotion with ten goals in 22 competitive games. He has so far made 13 Bundesliga appearances for the FCA (one goal).

"Based on the course of our preseason, it became clear that the prospect of playing time with the FCA remains limited. This loan provides a great opportunity for regular playing time at a club in a top league," said Sporting Director Marinko Jurendić in an FCA statement.

In his previous loan spell, Cardona helped AS Saint-Étienne gain promotion to the Ligue 1. Now, seeking regular playing time, he joins Football league newcomers Espanyol Barcelona on a one-season loan from the Football league team FC Augsburg.
