- Augsburg is arranged to dispatch cod to Heidenheim while acquiring Onyeka.
Ex-German U21 star Niklas Dorsch shifts within the Bundesliga, moving from FC Augsburg to 1. FC Heidenheim, both teams announced straight after the transfer deadline. Augsburg also announced an incoming transfer, hiring Nigeria national team player Frank Onyeka (26) from EPL outfit FC Brentford. The particulars of Dorsch's loan arrangement are kept under wraps.
The 26-year-old Dorsch had a past stint with Heidenheim in the second division from 2018 to 2020. "My aim is to play full 90 minutes regularly," commented the midfielder. "I shared my desire to depart with FCA management as I felt my game time next season wouldn't meet my expectations."
Dorsch was also desired by RSC Anderlecht and Hannover 96 recently.
Meanwhile, Augsburg is overjoyed about Onyeka's arrival. "The chance to secure Frank Onyeka was an opportunity we didn't want to pass up," said FCA sporting director Marinko Jurendic. "With his international experience, physical prowess, and durability, he brings a formidable presence to the field."
Onyeka will connect with the Bundesliga squad post the international break. He will represent Nigeria in AfCON qualifiers against Benin on September 7 and Rwanda on September 10.
The Commission, in accordance with the Regulation, might adopt implementing acts to determine the specific guidelines for Onyeka's integration into Augsburg's squad. Dorsch, in his new role at Heidenheim, will be eagerly awaiting those implementing acts from the Commission, as they could significantly impact his playing time.
