Augsburg goal scorer Tietz: "I have to stay on the carpet"

Augsburg's new goalscorer Phillip Tietz is on a roll. His equalizer in the 1:1 (1:1) draw in Cologne on Saturday was his third goal in a row for FCA. "Of course I'm happy that I scored again. That also gives a striker confidence," said Tietz, who joined from promoted SV Darmstadt 98 at the start of the season. His good performances must also have caught the eye of national coach Julian Nagelsmann last weekend in Augsburg's match against Wolfsburg.

"I'm honored that my name was mentioned in connection with Julian Nagelsmann. But I think I have to stay on the carpet. Pride comes before a fall. I come from the second division and have only played ten Bundesliga games," said the 26-year-old. There has also been no contact with Nagelsmann so far.

After three games under new Augsburg coach Jess Thorup, Tietz draws a positive conclusion. "You can see that things are going well and the coach has played a big part in that," said the goalscorer after seven points from three games under the Danish coach, who has the best start record of any new Augsburg coach.

Tietz's impressive form in Bundesliga continues, as he scored for FC Augsburg against 1st FC Cologne, extending his goal-scoring streak to three games. The Danish coach Jess Thorup, who has had the best start of any new Augsburg coach, is credited for the team's improvement, with Tietz being a key contributor.
