Soccer Bundesliga - Augsburg assistant coach moves to England

The FC Augsburg is letting go of their long-term assistant coach Jonas Scheuermann. According to the Bundesliga team's announcement, the 38-year-old has expressed the desire to join an English Premier League club. The FC Augsburg wants to "give him the opportunity for international experience." The new club needs to clear formalities before the announcement, however.

Regarding the transfer fee, the two clubs reportedly agreed on silence. According to media reports, the new team is said to be Brighton & Hove Albion, to which Fabian Huërzeler has switched from Bundesliga newcomer FC St. Pauli as the new coach.

Nearly ten years with FC Augsburg

"He is a long-term and deserving employee in our trainer team, who had his share in the success of our FCA in the past few years and will always have a place in the club. Jonas is a good example that one can develop very well as a player and as a coach at the FCA," said Augsburg's commercial manager Michael Stroll about the departure.

Scheuermann joined the FC Augsburg as a coach of the U19 team in 2015. In the 2016/17 season, he was promoted to the trainer team of the professionals. His responsibilities within the trainer team will initially be distributed internally.

  1. Jonas Scheuermann's next challenge will likely be in the Premier League, as he aims to join a team in England.
  2. The move from FC Augsburg to the Soccer Premier League could provide Scheuermann with valuable international experience.
  3. Scheuermann's departure from FC Augsburg marks the end of nearly a decade-long relationship with the Bundesliga club based in Bavaria.
  4. The Transfers between FC Augsburg and a Premier League team are ongoing, with the details still being worked out.
  5. While Scheuermann prepares for his new opportunity in England, the Soccer Bundesliga continues without him, and FC Augsburg looks for ways to fill his role within the team.
