- Aue wins against Hannover 96 II
FC Erzgebirge Aue kicked off their season with a 2:1 win over Regionalliga promoted side Hannover 96 II at their home ground, the Erzgebirgsstadion. In front of 6870 spectators, Marvin Stefaniak (9') and Marcel Bär (22') scored for the Violet ones, with Tom Sanne (15') replying for Hannover.
Following a brief protest by Aue fans over a friendly against RB Leipzig, which saw them leave the stadium until kick-off, the game started heatedly. Stefaniak scored after nine minutes, capitalizing on poor defending by the visitors. Sanne equalized shortly after (15'), but Bär restored Aue's lead just seven minutes later (22'), with the Hannover keeper misjudging the situation and being beaten by Kilian Jakob.
The second half was much quieter. Bär missed a chance to make it 3:1 in the 57th minute. Hannover grew stronger but couldn't find an equalizer. Notable performances came from Aue's new signings Mika Clausen and Maxim Burghardt in their debut for the Saxons.
Despite their previous protest against RB Leipzig, FC Erzgebirge Aue fans turned out in force to support their team at the Erzgebirgsstadion. The Netherlands' Mika Clausen put in a strong performance in his debut for Aue during the match against Hannover.
