Aue loses to Verl after conceding two late goals

Two late goals conceded cost FC Erzgebirge Aue what they thought was a certain home win. The third-division soccer team lost 1:2 (0:0) to SC Verl on Friday evening. In front of 7703 spectators at the Erzgebirgsstadion, Marvin Stefaniak (67th minute) had initially put the hosts ahead before Maximilian Wolfram (90th) and Mael Corboz (90.+1) turned the game around.

The Violets started the game well. After a cross from Marco Schikora, Marcel Bär got on the end of it but shot too high in the 10th minute. Linus Rosenlöcher had a similarly dangerous chance in the 16th minute when he struck a cross from Tim Danhof with a spectacular scissor kick against the post of the Verl goal. From this point on, Aue were the dominant team, but there were hardly any further scoring chances until the break.

Both teams took a much calmer approach in the second half - until the 67th minute: Aue's Boris Tashchy broke into the penalty area but was stopped in accordance with the rules. Omar Sijaric then got hold of the free ball and passed to Marvin Stefaniak, who was left alone and only had to finish to make it 1:0.

After the goal, Aue retreated far back into their own half. Verl pressed hard for the equalizer, especially in the final minutes. And this was indeed scored by Wolfram in the final minute. Just one minute later, the visitors went one better through Corboz.

Despite their dominance in the first half, FC Erzgebirge Aue struggled in the second half and conceded two late goals, losing their 3rd league match against SC Verl. The unfortunate result came after Maximilian Wolfram scored in the 90th minute and Mael Corboz added another in the 90+1 minute, defeating Aue's Soccer team 1:2 (0:0).
