"Alter the procedure" - Attention shift towards critical witness in Christian B.'s trial.
The trial against Christian B, who is also a suspect in the Madeleine McCann case, once again features a crucial witness. The 53-year-old will continue to be questioned at the Braunschweig court on Wednesday.
Previously, this man had testified about two rape videos where he claims to have identified the defendant. The primary objective for the ongoing interrogation is the defense's right to examine the witness. Their credibility could potentially hold significant weight.
Christian B is under suspicion for three rapes and two cases of child sexual abuse in Portugal. He's accused of raping a 70-80-year-old woman in her bedroom at her vacation home and recording it. Simultaneously, he allegedly raped a 14-year-old girl, tied to a wooden post in his previous residence, beat her, and forced her into oral sex. The identities of these victims remain unknown.
This witness stated that he stole from the defendant back in 2006, when Christian B was in prison for diesel theft. He took a car, diesel, and video cameras with films, the witness recounts. Besides various party and tourist items, he recalled observing scenes with the elderly woman and the teenage girl on these videos.
As per the witness's testimony, the elderly woman on the video was bound to her bed by the masked man, screamed, and was whipped. The witness allegedly recognized the culprit when he removed his condom and the sound of a toilet flush could be heard.
Towards the conclusion of the video with the older woman, the man sat on the bed and took off his mask. "You could see him, he looked into the camera," the witness recalls, looking towards the defendant. Subsequently, the man pressed a pillow on the victim's head, and the film stopped.
On the second video, the girl secured to a post is said to have addressed B, "Hi Christian, you know what this is. This is a rape." The witness mentioned that he later sold the cameras. Unfortunately, he couldn't recall where the videos were now. He had, however, displayed the videos to a friend in excerpts. The 68-year-old friend also testified in court, confirming the defendant's identity in both cases.
