A 32-year-old woman has been severely injured in Löningen (district of Cloppenburg). The suspicion falls on her 30-year-old husband, who is believed to have fled the scene after the incident on Sunday evening. Investigators are treating the case as an attempted murder, as stated by a police spokesperson. The injured woman was taken to a hospital and is now out of danger.
The exact crime scene was initially unknown. It was also unclear who called the police. A helicopter was deployed to search for the suspect. Alongside forces from the police in Cloppenburg/Vechta, units from the police in Oldenburg and Osnabrück were also involved in the operation in the small town.
The incident at the crime scene is being investigated as a potential case of domestic violence, given the husband's suspected involvement. Despite initial uncertainty, it was the injured woman herself who reported the incident to the police.
