Police investigate - Attempted murder in Dortmund: young man in custody

A 23-year-old man has been arrested and remanded in custody after several knife attacks in Dortmund. He is suspected of seriously injuring two homeless men with a knife on two consecutive nights at the end of November, Dortmund police and the public prosecutor's office reported on Friday. The arrest warrant had been issued for attempted murder.

The accused is said to have stabbed a 43-year-old man in the stomach at night at the end of November. The victim was able to drag himself, seriously injured, to the home of an acquaintance who alerted the emergency services. The following night, a homeless man from Dortmund (41) was found critically injured on a bench. Here, too, the 23-year-old is believed to be the alleged perpetrator.

He was caught in Dortmund on Thursday night after threatening a young man with a knife and demanding money. The man was able to flee unharmed and the 23-year-old was arrested. A spokesperson for the public prosecutor's office said that a fourth case is also currently being investigated to determine whether the accused could be responsible for an attempted murder. Greed is to be assumed in all four cases.
