Schools - Attack on Israel: Jewish pupils stayed at home
After the terrorist attack by the Palestinian Hamas on Israel, more than half of the Jewish pupils in Berlin did not go to school at times. In the first few days after the attack, around half of the pupils only attended classes irregularly, partly out of fear, the Senate replied to a CDU inquiry. On October 13, when an Israeli attack in the Gaza Strip was imminent, up to 80 percent were absent from school. After the end of the fall vacations in November, the schools reported an increase in regular attendance.
In the weeks following the attack, many schools and Jewish parents reported that children and young people preferred to stay at home for safety's sake for fear of hostility or attacks.
