Rheingau-Taunus district - ATM blown up: perpetrators flee in blue car
Unknown perpetrators blew up an ATM in Taunusstein-Neuhof early Thursday morning and fled the scene. The machine was located on the first floor of a residential and commercial building, according to the police. Residents had heard a loud bang and reported the crime to the police by emergency call. Whether cash was taken was initially unclear and is still being investigated. According to previous findings, the perpetrators were at least three men dressed completely in black who fled in a blue car in the direction of the Autobahn 3 after the explosion.
The residents of the affected house were unharmed and have since been accommodated and cared for in a nearby hotel. In addition to the security and criminal investigation police and the fire department, explosives experts from the Hessian State Office of Criminal Investigation were also on site. A structural engineer is checking the stability of the building. It is not yet possible to give any information on the extent of the damage. According to initial investigations, the perpetrators had attached stolen license plates to their getaway vehicle. These had been stolen from a car parked in Neuhof between Wednesday evening and Thursday night.
The criminal investigation department in Wiesbaden is investigating on behalf of the public prosecutor's office in Frankfurt and is appealing for information, especially regarding suspicious observations of the blue vehicle that drove away from the crime scene at excessive speed and the previous theft of the license plates.
