The Swiss team experiences a busy first training session in Stuttgart, as the Lord Mayor and Prime Minister personally greet their upcoming opponents in the preliminary round of Germany.

Football games captivate fans around the world. - At the European Championship, Switzerland faces Germany with nearly 4,000 spectators present.

Led by the captain of German champions and DFB Cup winners Bayer Leverkusen, Captain Granit Xhaka, the Swiss team is heading into their final phase of preparation for the Euros. Coach Murat Yakin's team, playing the German national team on the last group stage matchday on June 23rd, had a leisurely and well-organized training session on Monday evening in front of 3,800 spectators in Stuttgart.

After moving into their team accommodations near the television tower earlier in the day, the Swiss players were warmly welcomed by Stuttgart's mayor Frank Nopper (CDU) and Baden-Württemberg's minister president Winfried Kretschmann (Greens) on the field. The Swiss football team will start their Euros journey with their opening match against Hungary on Saturday (3:00 PM/MagentaTV) in Cologne.

Among the foundation of the Swiss team are midfielder Xhaka, as well as two other ex-Bundesliga professionals: goalkeeper Yann Sommer, who currently plays for Inter Milan after stints at Borussia Mönchengladbach and FC Bayern Munich, and center-back Manuel Akanji, who transferred from Borussia Dortmund to Manchester City in 2022.

Ex-Gladbach midfielder Denis Zakaria, who had been recovering from an injury, joined his teammates for practice on Monday. Forward Steven Zuber, who has played for Hoffenheim, Stuttgart, and Frankfurt, was missing due to a minor calf injury.
