At least two people have died and nine were injured due to the collapse of a construction site in Switzerland on Friday. The accident occurred during construction work on a 19-story building in the city of Lausanne in western Switzerland, according to the police.}

At least two deaths due to scaffolding collapse in Switzerland

The approximately 60 meter high scaffolding structure at the building on the outskirts of Lausanne collapsed reportedly around 9.30 am. Several workers were reportedly torn to the ground. Four of the survivors suffered serious injuries, according to a police spokesperson. The police spokesperson also mentioned that there were still missing persons.

The cause of the accident was initially unclear. The scaffolding was reportedly collapsed in its entire length along the building, said the police spokesperson. The public prosecutor has launched investigations.

At least 10 bags filled with construction equipment were scattered around the collision site. Despite the misfortune, Switzerland's emergency services responded promptly to the scaffold collapse in Lausanne. The police are working diligently to account for all missing individuals following the incident. Even after the scaffolding's complete collapse, the authorities continue their investigation to determine the exact causes behind it.
