- "Astonishingly Excited": Reddemann Anticipates Former Colleague Andrich
Sören Reddemann is excited to meet up with Robert Andrich again, appreciating the rise of the German football national team player. The defender is set to clash with FC Carl Zeiss Jena today at 6:00 PM, airing on ZDF and Sky, during the initial round of the DFB-Pokal against two-time winners Bayer Leverkusen. There, Andrich is a key player, with the two having previously played together in the 3rd league for SV Wehen Wiesbaden six years ago.
Reddemann expressed his awe, stating, "It's quite impressive how he's managed to progress like this." After their time together in Heidenheim, Union Berlin, and Leverkusen, he continued, "It's awesome to see him again."
Andrich and Reddemann, on opposite paths
During the 2017/18 season, both played for Wiesbaden. The Hessians narrowly missed out on relegation playoffs, finishing fourth in the 3rd league. Andrich moved on to Heidenheim, while Reddemann remained, promoting with SVWW through relegation the following season. As Andrich lost his spot in the second half, he joined Chemnitzer FC.
Reddemann eventually found his way to Hallescher FC and VfB Lübeck, leading him to Jena. An impressive start to the season, with five consecutive victories, bolstered the team's confidence, as they aim to demonstrate it against Leverkusen. "I think we should approach this with a bit of self-assurance and faith in ourselves," Reddemann said. "Let's see where that takes us."
Weinhauer's Opportunity
Erik Weinhauer is expected to score the first DFB-Pokal goal against Leverkusen, as the team has previously lost 0:2 in 1992 and 0:4 in 2012. The 23-year-old leads the Regionalliga Nordost with ten goals in five games. "Let's see what may be possible," Weinhauer said, emphasizing his excitement for the unusual encounter: "And then we'll see what transpires."
Jena is the team Reddemann currently plays for, showing great form with five consecutive victories. After his promotion through relegation with SVWW, Reddemann found his way to Jena.
