Association presents drone show as an alternative to fireworks
With a drone show in Berlin, Deutsche Umwelthilfe has presented what it sees as a sensible alternative to New Year's Eve fireworks. On Monday, around 150 illuminated drones took to the dark skies from the Friedrich Ludwig Jahn Sports Park, displaying a wide variety of motifs in different colors. These included animals, flowers and champagne glasses.
Representatives of the Environmental Protection Association and other organizations renewed their call for a ban on firecrackers at the turn of the year. Last New Year's Eve was marked by countless serious injuries, attacks on emergency services, thousands of tons of garbage and millions of frightened animals. A drone show could be a peaceful and less harmful alternative to fireworks, they said.
