Art Foundation announces residency in Ahrenshoop

The Saxony-Anhalt Art Foundation will continue to support living and creative work in Ahrenshoop on the Baltic Sea in the coming year. A residency scholarship for the Künstlerhaus Lukas has been announced for October 2024 - artists from all disciplines can submit their applications until January 31, 2024, according to the website of the Halle-based foundation. It will cover accommodation and travel costs and also pay 1,500 euros per month. Applications can be submitted by artists whose main place of residence is in Saxony-Anhalt, it said.

The Künstlerhaus Lukas in Ahrenshoop is one of the oldest houses of its kind in Germany. Paul Müller-Kaempff founded it in 1894 as a painting school. Today, artists from all over the world from the fields of visual arts, literature, dance and music come here to work together and exchange ideas. The house is also a venue for readings, talks, concerts and exhibitions.

To this day, Ahrenshoop is considered an artists' colony as well as a popular retreat and attractive workplace for creative people. According to the Saxony-Anhalt Art Foundation, it has already provided 26 scholarships at Künstlerhaus Lukas.

The residency at Künstlerhaus Lukas in Ahrenshoop, sponsored by the Art Foundation, offers artists from various disciplines the opportunity to immerse themselves in an artistic environment. The historic building, founded by Paul Müller-Kaempff in 1894 as a painting school, continues to attract artists from around the world.
