Museum of Lindenau: Discover the Treasures of German Art History - "Art blends with flames": showcase in Altenburg

The Altenburg Lindenau Museum is once again hosting a significant art show, this time featuring the work of painter and graphic artist Walter Jacob (1893-1964) at the Prince's Palace of the Residence Castle. Titled "Fire and Color," the event aims to present Jacob's career as a whole, highlighting different aspects of his artistry in a fresh light, according to the announcements by the museum.

The exhibition will comprise approximately 50 artworks spanning the years 1913 to 1962, providing visitors with a comprehensive survey of Jacob's creative output. His paintings and drawings are known for their acute depiction of nature, with the artist repeatedly exploring the natural world, be it countryside, mountains, or seaside landscapes, to faithfully capture the extraordinary beauty and strength of plants and animals. While the artist's initial work displayed strong ties to Expressionism, he later evolved to crafting more abstract landscapes in a modern stylistic language.

Among the pieces displayed will be a selection from the Lindenau Museum's own collection, along with loans from the City Gallery Dresden and previously unseen works from private collections. Users can visit the exhibition until August 25, made possible through close collaboration with the artist's family, who have been safeguarding the extensive Walter Jacob estate.

The vibrant presentation will be accompanied by images documenting the various stages of Jacob's life.
