At the end of June, three people were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and particularly serious arson. They are suspected of having set fires multiple times in a residential building in Peine. At that time, several apartments and businesses in the city and region of Hannover, the district of Peine, and North Rhine-Westphalia were searched. Arrest warrants were issued against the suspects. According to the investigators' statements, the fires occurred in March and April, affecting a family from Peine in all cases.

The fiery blaze in the residential building was allegedly set multiple times by the suspects under investigation. Upon executing the arrest warrants, police discovered evidence of fire-starting tools at one of the searched locations.
