Crime - Arrests for drug smuggling worth 450,000 euros
Two suspected drug dealers have been arrested in the Vogelsberg district of central Hesse. They are said to have tried to smuggle in drugs worth 450,000 euros hidden in machine parts. This was announced by the Frankfurt/Main Customs Investigation Office and the Hessian State Office of Criminal Investigation on Wednesday.
According to the officials, they learned of the planned delivery from abroad through previous investigations. The shipment, declared as a "pallet with machine parts", had already been checked by foreign customs and police authorities on its way to Germany. They had found and seized around 60 kilograms of opium and 12 kilograms of methamphetamine inside hydraulic machine parts.
The 32 and 33-year-old recipients of the shipment were arrested on Tuesday. According to the police, an arrest warrant was issued for both of them. They now have to answer for suspected violation of the Narcotics Act.
