Success in the fight against drug-related crime: Following searches of residential and business premises in the Hanover region, Hildesheim, Salzgitter, Bremen and Essen, the police arrested five people on Tuesday on remand warrants. Officers also arrested two more people who are to be brought before a magistrate, according to the Lower Saxony Criminal Police Office (LKA). A total of 20 properties were searched. The seven people arrested are aged between 32 and 40.

The investigators also confiscated a large amount of evidence, more than 20,000 euros in cash, 1.7 kilograms of marijuana, 50 pills of LSD and around 6,000 pieces of branded clothing worth around 40,000 to 50,000 euros. In addition, the officers seized a car and seven car keys from vehicles, some of which are still unknown. The investigators intend to secure assets worth 1.5 million euros in the further course of the investigation.

Since the summer of 2021, undercover investigations have been conducted against a group of perpetrators under the direction of the Hanover public prosecutor's office, and numerous arrests have already been made. However, a 33-year-old member of the arrested group had continued some of the illegal structures after the group was provisionally dismantled.

Following undercover investigations into the man and other suspects, this group, which currently consists of eleven people, was found to have imported and trafficked marijuana and organized a shipment of cocaine from the Netherlands via England to Ireland. According to the LKA, the group of offenders can be proven to have trafficked tons of cocaine.
