Five months after a deadly robbery of an elderly couple in St. Peter-Ording, law enforcement officers have taken several suspects into custody. Three of these suspects were previously held following their arrest on June 4, as officials detailed in Flensburg yesterday. All four of the men, ranging in age from 30 to 42, were the focus of scrutiny by investigators.

Prior to this arrest, warrants had already been issued for three Germans and one Eastern European. However, the court lifted one arrest warrant at the request of the prosecutor, allowing the accused individual to be released.

At the end of April, the police disclosed that new information about a potential criminal group had come to light during another investigation. The men now detained are believed to have targeted the couple's home in St. Peter-Ording on January 11 at approximately 7:00 p.m. During the attack, the 99-year-old husband, who had been healthy and active, succumbed to his injuries on the scene. His 79-year-old wife was initially taken to the hospital and now requires care, making it impossible for her to return to her home.

During the arrests on June 4, multiple properties were searched by police. "The entire incident and potential motives for the crime are still being examined by the murder commission," the police and prosecutors said during a press conference on Wednesday.

This crime was also featured on the popular German TV show "Aktenzeichen XY... Unsolved." During the robbery on January 11, the thieves made off with a gold chain featuring an eye-catching pendant of the Egyptian pharaoh Ramses, fifty rubies from a small bottle, a substantial amount of loose change, and two bottles of wine from the couple's home in the wee hours of January 5. It is believed that these two crimes are connected.
