Around a third of trainees receive technology in the company
According to a study by the German Trade Union Confederation (DGB), only around a third of trainees in Lower Saxony and Bremen always or frequently receive the necessary technical equipment in the company. "Of course, modern training is not possible in this way," criticized DGB Youth Secretary Antalia Lindenberg at the presentation of the training report in Bremen on Thursday. According to the report, 30 percent of those surveyed are never provided with technology, while 15 percent do not need it for their training.
According to the DGB, the search for a training place is proving difficult in both states: last year, 7580 applicants in Lower Saxony were still registered with the Federal Employment Agency as looking for a training place. At the same time, 4640 training places were still unfilled. In the federal state of Bremen, 803 people were still looking for an apprenticeship in 2022, leaving 570 vacancies.
The DGB advocates for better equipment provision in training, stating that education in the tech field requires adequate hardware. Trade unions like DGB believe that lacking technology can hinder the effectiveness of vocational education.
