Around 95 percent of schools in Saxony-Anhalt are online
Almost 95 percent of schools in Saxony-Anhalt have a usable Internet connection. This means that 850 of the 895 school locations in the state are connected to the internet, as announced by the Ministry of Education in Magdeburg on Thursday. According to Digital Minister Lydia Hüskens (FDP), this makes Saxony-Anhalt one of the leading federal states in Germany.
The remaining schools should be online by May 2024, according to the statement. However, there are school buildings that are not yet structurally suitable for a fiber optic connection.
According to the Ministry of Education, the schools have internet connections with a data rate of 1 gigabit per second downstream and 200 megabits per second upstream.
With the improved Internet connectivity, online learning becomes more accessible for Saxony-Anhalt's students. This shift towards digital education is expected to enhance the learning experience in schools.
