Energy - Around 9200 applications for heating cost assistance in Brandenburg

Around 9200 households in Brandenburg have applied for hardship aid due to high energy costs. Of these, just under 8400 applications were approved, while 750 applications were rejected, according to the Ministry of Economic Affairs in response to a question from the SPD parliamentary group. 26 applications were withdrawn. The deadline for applications was October 20.

The aid was aimed at households that heat with energy sources such as oil, wood pellets, liquid gas, coal or coke and for which the price increases in 2022 at least doubled compared to the previous year. 80 percent of these additional costs were to be reimbursed according to a nationwide program. The maximum subsidy per household was 2,000 euros.

Just under 8,200 applications in Brandenburg included cost assistance for heating oil. Around 485 applications each related to liquid gas and wood pellets. The lowest funding of 16 applications each was for stoves fired with coal, coke or firewood.
