Education - Around 50 percent of Thuringians with a secondary school leaving certificate
Around half of Thuringians had a secondary school certificate or equivalent after the 10th grade in 2022. Specifically, this figure was 50.5 percent, according to the Thuringian State Statistical Office. In addition, around a third of people had a higher education entrance qualification. Younger age groups are particularly well represented in this group. According to the data, 43.6 percent of 25 to under 45-year-olds left school with a higher education entrance qualification. In addition, more people in this age group had an academic degree than people over the age of 65. Almost 20 percent of Thuringians had a lower secondary school leaving certificate.
According to the statistics office, 98.4 percent of people in employment in Thuringia had a school-leaving certificate. 89.3 percent of those in employment had a vocational qualification. Most Thuringians were employed, while only one in twelve were self-employed. The number of self-employed persons with an academic degree was roughly twice as high as the number of self-employed persons with vocational training or an apprenticeship.
According to the statistics office, the data is based on the initial results of the microcensus, in which around one percent of households are surveyed.
