Around 234 million euros for science in Lower Saxony
The state of Lower Saxony and the Volkswagen Foundation are investing around 234 million euros in science. This autumn, 185.8 million euros will flow into new projects from the "zukunft.niedersachsen" funding program. Projects that have already been approved will be continued with 48.1 million euros, as the Ministry of Science announced on Friday. The proposed use of the funds was approved, covering the three future areas of transformation, digitality and cutting-edge research. A total of 28 projects will be funded.
"By funding projects, for example in the fields of artificial intelligence and photovoltaics, we are providing strong impetus for the further development of important future technologies," said Science Minister Falko Mohrs (SPD). This is an essential contribution to achieving the research and climate policy goals and staying ahead as an innovative science and business location. The universities are to be supported with a total of up to 265 million euros, said Mohrs. In a first step, 100 million euros will now flow into strategic profile development.
The investment in science by Lower Saxony and the Volkswagen Foundation includes funding for cutting-edge research, demonstrating their commitment to this field. Researchers in areas such as artificial intelligence and photovoltaics may benefit from this funding, driving advancements in these crucial future technologies.
