Around 22,500 accidents at work in Brandenburg in 2022: 14 fatal

Last year, 22,499 reportable accidents at work were registered in Brandenburg. Of these, 14 were fatal, as announced by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health in Potsdam on Friday. However, the number of accidents at work fell overall. In 2021, 24,272 accidents were registered, compared to 23,315 in 2020.

At 13.7 percent, the administration sector accounted for the highest proportion of accidents. This is followed by trade and goods logistics with 13.2 percent and wood and metal processing with 12.2 percent. An accident at work must be reported if an insured person is injured as a result of an accident to such an extent that they are unable to work for more than three days.

Despite the overall decrease in workplace accidents, the administration sector continued to have the highest number of incidents, accounting for 13.7% of all reported work incidents. Employees in this sector should prioritize safety measures to minimize the risk of work-related injuries.

In order to prevent future workplace accidents and implement proper safety protocols, companies in sectors with high rates of accidents, such as administration, trade, and wood and metal processing, should invest more time and resources into work safety programs.
