- Around 15,000 fans celebrate at the Pangea Festival at Bodden
Around 15,000 fans of music, sports, and creative games are celebrating at the former Pütlitz airport on the Bodden (district of Vorpommern-Rügen) at the Pangea Festival. With around 15,000 visitors, we're matching last year's numbers, said Alexander Seifert of the organizers. The occupancy rate is at 90 percent.
Over 100 DJs will be performing until Sunday. Additionally, numerous creative workshops and sports events, from SUP yoga to slackline contests, will be offered.
For the first time at Pangea, and similar to the Fusion Festival in Lärz by the lake in June, there will be a mobile drug-checking service. Users can have their brought-in illegal drugs tested for their active ingredients and possible contaminants, aiming to enhance safety during the consumption of psychoactive substances.
Minister Praises Drug-Checking
Health Minister Stefanie Drese (SPD) visited the drug-checking service on the opening day, offered by experts from the University Medicine Rostock. "Whether we like it or not, psychoactive drugs play a significant role at festivals. Often, substances are consumed without any knowledge of their active ingredients, leading to numerous emergency medical interventions," she explained. "The mobile drug-checking service aims to reduce the harm caused by drug consumption at festivals."
The Minister also sees an advantage in immediate warnings about high active ingredient levels. "This is done on the festival grounds through appropriate announcements by the organizers. Additionally, the results and photos of the pills are publicly displayed."
The festival continues to draw a large crowd on Sunday, with over 15,000 visitors enjoying the music, sports, and creative activities. Many attendees are participating in workshops or sports events, such as SUP yoga and slackline contests.
