- Aquaplaning in front of the Elbe Tunnel - Suction tube blocked

Due to excess water on the Autobahn 7 on the southern side of the Elbe Tunnel, one tube was closed in the morning. The water was located where the carriageways separate and the construction site begins, a spokesperson said. Due to many drivers suddenly braking heavily because of the water, the third tube of the Elbe Tunnel in the southern direction was temporarily closed for safety reasons.

The left lane of the A7 through the Elbe Tunnel is closed so that the highway maintenance crew can pump the water off the roadway. The other two lanes can still be used. By morning, there were already some traffic jams due to the closures.

Police information on the closure

The current weather condition on the Autobahn 7 has led to the accumulation of water, affecting traffic. The weather is forecasted to improve by afternoon, allowing the highway maintenance crew to resume operations.
