- Approximately 6,300 attendees graced the 32nd installation of the Moritzburg Festival.
Around 6,300 folks showed up for the 19 events at this year's Moritzburg Festival close to Dresden, which is a slight increase from last year. The average attendance was 94%, as organizers shared.
"Music, nature, and camaraderie meshed flawlessly yet again this summer to generate the distinctive Moritzburg vibe," noted artistic director and cellist Jan Vogler.
The festival was set to wrap up in the evening with the debut of Benjamin Scheer's string octet "Night in the Monster's Den," inspired by the Baroque castle's interiors. The 33rd edition is planned for August 8-24, 2025.
Beginning August 2, 29 international soloists took the stage against the backdrop of the Baroque castle, honoring the variety in chamber music literature. Innovative formats included a tango night and an event combining a concert with a castle tour.
The Moritzburg Chamber Music Festival, established in 1993 by Jan Vogler, Peter Bruns, and Kai Vogler, is one of Europe's top chamber music destinations. Every year, musicians from around the globe converge on the picturesque scenery surrounding Saxony's legendary art-lover's hunting lodge, Elector Augustus the Strong (1670-1733), rehearse together, and perform in various ensembles. Since 2006, a Moritzburg Festival Academy for budding talent has also been in operation, led by violinist Mira Wang.
The Moritzburg Chamber Music Festival, with its rich history and international acclaim, takes place annually in Germany. Several distinguished musicians from around the world attend the festival, which is set against the stunning Baroque castle backdrop in Saxony.
