- Approaching Final Stages of Verity Wreckage Retrieval

Under ideal climate conditions, it's time to retrieve the second significant crash portion of the submerged vessel "Verity". This marks the completion of the salvage project in the German Bight. The substantial front part, approximately 49 meters long and weighing around 580 metric tons, will be lifted by the mighty Hebo Lift 10, one of Europe's most potent floating cranes, as per the instructions from the Waterways and Shipping Department in Bonn (WSV).

The initial rear portion was retrieved a week ago. Both sections will subsequently be transported to the Netherlands for disposal. Furthermore, the seabed requires further maintenance, with hatch covers and related debris needing to be cleared away.

The hunt for the remaining three missing individuals persists within the front section. Last Friday, a deceased sailor was discovered within a cabin during the recovery of the rear section. Out of the "Verity"'s seven-member team, only two sailors managed to survive the collision with the "Polesie" on October 24, 2023, in the German Bight. The captain, unfortunately, had passed away earlier.

The "Verity" was salvaged in the German Bight, a body of water off the northwest coast of Germany. After the retrieval of both sections, they will be transported to the Netherlands for disposal.
