Extreme right-wing ideology - Apologizes to Relatives of the Hanau Attack: Poseck

Hesse's Interior Minister Roman Poseck of the CDU has offered an apology to the families of the victims of the Hanau attack. He acknowledges that blunders took place, including those made by the police. These mistakes included an unreachable emergency call during the night of the incident and the manner in which the death notice was delivered. "Such errors caused further harm and suffering for the affected families," remarked Poseck. "I am deeply saddened by this and sincerely apologize for the mishaps." He had previously expressed the same sentiments during a gathering with the relatives.

On February 19, 2020, a German offender fired on nine young folks in Hanau due to racial animosity. He later gunned down his mother and ended his own life. A state parliamentary committee of inquiry in Hesse looked into the matter and suggested 60 measures in its 750-page final report - the majority of which fall under the purview of the Interior Ministry.

Poseck plans to enhance the police victim and family support system. Furthermore, a Notruf concept featuring an "Emergency Button" has been devised. If the button is pushed, all seven Hessian control stations receive emergency calls. This reduces the waiting time that can occur when numerous calls are directed to the 110 emergency line.
