Hagen - Apartments uninhabitable after explosion: No injuries

After an explosion in an apartment in Hagen, the building has been severely damaged. According to a structural engineer, several apartments are no longer habitable, as the fire department announced on Tuesday. For unknown reasons, a deflagration occurred in the apartment on the third floor at midday. No one was in the apartment at the time, so there were no injuries. It is unclear what exploded, said a fire department spokesperson. The police had begun an investigation.

The house and two adjoining buildings were evacuated as a precaution. The detonation had left considerable traces above the second floor, so that the residents could not return for the time being, the fire department spokesman reported. Doors had been torn off their hinges, some walls were cracked and window panes were broken.
