Fire department operation - Apartment fire in Hamburg: Senior citizen rescued by helper
Before the fire department arrived, a man rescued a Hamburg woman from her burning apartment in the Eimsbüttel district. The kitchen of the apartment was on fire on Wednesday, said a fire department spokesman. When the emergency services arrived at the scene of the fire, one person was initially missing. It then turned out that a man had already taken the woman in her mid-80s out of the apartment and brought her to a café in the neighborhood.
An emergency doctor spotted her and nine other affected people. However, no one had been taken to hospital, the spokesperson said. A caller had reported an explosion and a flash fire in the courtyard to the fire department. The fire department extinguished the flames in the apartment.
