- Anticipated western region downpours, accompanied by potent thunderstorms, bringing substantial rainfall.
In certain areas of Lower Saxony, the sweltering heat of summer is predicted to give way to tempests and a cool-down. According to the German Weather Service (DWD) in Offenbach, this transition will happen overnight into Sunday, bringing local showers and intense thunderstorms with heavy downpours.
Initially, a low pressure system heading towards Sweden over the German Bight will pull in a chain of warm to hot air. As night falls, this system's accompanying cold front will make its way through Lower Saxony and Bremen, allowing a chillier ocean breeze from the west to replace the warmth. The DWD forecasts winds gusting up to 85 km/h, particularly on the North Sea coast after sunset. Furthermore, from the western regions, there's a likelihood of powerful thunderstorms with torrential rain and hail.
The temperature of the air in certain areas of Lower Saxony is expected to decrease significantly due to the approaching cold front. The thunderstorms predicted for the western regions could bring hail, adding to the drop in overall temperature.
