Anticipated victory: British Labour Party on track to secure a historical number of parliamentary seats in forthcoming election
In both scenarios, Labour emerges as the party with the most Parliament seats following a nationwide election. On the flip side, the Tories, led by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, have plummeted to dismal approval ratings, hinting at a dismal electoral outcome. That being said, the Tories are likely to secure 53 seats on election day, July 4th.
According to a survey conducted by the Institute Savanta and Electoral Calculus for the "Daily Telegraph", Sunak is poised to become the first incumbent Prime Minister to lose his seat in a Parliamentary election. His constituency of Richmond in Yorkshire is thus predicted to switch to Labour.
As per the survey, more than half of Sunak's cabinet members are potentially staring at a defeat in the upcoming election. The Liberal Democrats are only three seats behind the Tories in the polls, while the SNP, in power in Scotland, could stand to lose a significant number of seats.
The YouGov survey also indicates that in the past few days, the Tories have lost support and, as a consequence, could only win 108 constituencies. That's a drop from the 140 seats they were predicted to secure based on previous surveys, which was an increase of 32 seats.
Meanwhile, Brexit advocate Nigel Farage's Reform UK Party is polling at 15%, translating to five Parliament seats according to the YouGov survey. This suggests that Farage himself could retain his constituency of Clacton in the eastern parts of England.
However, it's important to note that the survey results are conditional and in more than 100 constituencies, the vote distribution is so close that no definitive predictions can be made.
